Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit various positions which requires graduation as the minimum qualification. It is conducted for selecting staff for various Group B and Group C posts like Assistants, Divisional Accountant Jr, Examiner, Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Enforcement Officer etc. Combined Graduate Level Examination follows recruitment process on test, which consists of 4 stages : Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4. For selection to certain posts there are certain set standards as well as a physical test.
Group B and Group C are classified primarily on the basis of pay band and work. Post under Group ‘B’ mostly constitute the middle management level posts in the pay scale of 9300 – 34800 (in the Pay Band-2) and one of the following grade pay – Rs 5400, Rs 4800, Rs 4600 and Rs 4200
Group `C’ posts on the other hand, perform mostly supervisory as well as operational tasks and offer clerical assistance to their superior officers in Ministry and Departments. These are in the pay scale of 5200-20200 (in the Pay Band-1), and a grade pay of Rs 2800, Rs 2400, Rs 2000, Rs 1900 and Rs 1800. As you can see in the tables below:
