The Uttarakhand State Board of Education was started in the year 1996 by the Uttarakhand Secondary Education Council for the establishment of its regional office of state Ramnagar (Nainital).
Before partition of this state from Uttar Pradesh Garhwal and Kumaon boards were handled for the board exams, after the formation of an independent state the Garhwal and Kumaon boards which used to be under UP boards were shifted to regional office Ramnagar, Uttarakhand state in 2001.
The Uttarakhand Educational and Examination Council in collaboration with UP Secondary School Education Council started its first examination in the year 2006. In this way the Uttarakhand Educational Council was formed with it act as Uttaranchal Vidyalaya Education Act 2006. Following its act the Vidyalaya Educational Council was started in its full swing from 2008, this is how the Uttarakhand Educational Council was formed.
