Railway Exam Group D Selection Process


The recruitment for this category is made through the divisional level, which include Trackman, Helper, Assistant Points Man, Safaiwala, Gunman and Peon. Most of the posts are recruited through Railway Recruitment Cell.

Eligibility

Education qualification: 10th Standard or ITI or equivalent and the age limit is as follows, age limit - between 18-33 years. But relaxations are made according to various categories, SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), EXSM (3 years), Widows and Divorced Women (UR – 40, OBC – 38, SC/ST – 40), Serving Railway Staff (UR – 40, UR – 43, UR – 45).

Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure followed by RRC is explained below in form of various stages of Recruitment Procedures like Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification and Medical Examination.

Written Examination

Questions would be Objective Type and would be in the categories of General Knowledge Awareness, Mathematics and Reasoning (of 10th class standard). There will be negative marking of 1/3 marks for marks allotted to that question. Qualifying marks for unreserved candidates would be 40 per cent and 30 per cent for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Physical Efficiency Test

Candidates who have qualified in Written Examination will be called for PET in 1:3 ratios. Male candidates should be able to run for a distance of 1500 meters in six minutes in one chance.

Female candidates should be able to run for a distance of 400 meters in three minutes in one chance.


Medical Examination and Document Verification

Candidates who qualify in Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and who are medically fit would be called for Verification of Original Certificates. Final recruitment panel will be strictly based on merit position obtained in written examination.

Exam Pattern

Written examination will be in the standard of Class 10, with 100 multiple choice (four) objective type questions aimed to assess the General Knowledge/Awareness, Mathematics, General Science, Reasoning, etc. In Computer based test there will be 4 sections, consisting of following number of questions: General Knowledge- 20, Arithmetic Ability – 25, General Intelligence – 25, General Science – 30. The duration of the written examination of railway recruitment will be 90 (ninety) minutes. Medium of the question paper shall be published in Hindi and English and also in regional languages.
