Chances of rejection of the application can be due to several reasons like a large number of manual applications, are rejected due to errors made by the candidate. It may include application not in the prescribed format, applications without photographs, signature or signed in CAPITAL letters, not enclosing copies of requisite certificates, belated applications due to postal delay. Candidates should not apply through both the methods (manual and online). If more than one application is received from the same candidates the applications will be rejected.

Candidates must pass the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) which is mandatory for some jobs in Railways. Eligible candidates who are selected based on the performance in the Written Examination will be called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET). A separate letter mentioning the date, time and venue will be communicated to the eligible candidates. Based on the gender, separate tests will be organised. Male Candidates should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance. Female Candidates should be able to run for a distance of 400 metres in 3 minutes and 10 seconds in one chance.
Once the application is submitted, Primary Registration and the Registration Number are generated. These details cannot be modified immediately. So, one has to complete the full registration and finally choose the "Modify Application" option from the main page of the website and make changes in any of the details (except for email-id) or apply to another RRB altogether. However, if you have not activated the email link and the Registration Number has ‘NOT BEEN GENERATED’, you can enter your Primary Registration again with the correct details.
During the second stage of the Online Registration, candidates can choose up to five cities for the exam. RRB management will make efforts to allot your exam centre in one of these five options. However, in case of any exigency, RRB reserves the right to allot the exam centre in any other city also.

Examinations are organized in about four months' time from the closing date of the notification. Almost all the examinations are expected to the examinations can be expected to be completed in about 10-12 months. The priority for various categories is laid down depending upon the urgency of filling the posts, the priorities of the indenting Railways etc. The schedule of the written examination is notified in the leading newspapers about a month advance of the examination date apart from being displayed on the website.
The results of the written examinations for most of the categories are published in 30 to 60 days from the date of the examination.
About a month before the date of the written examination the status of the application of the candidate, i.e. whether it is accepted or rejected is displayed on the website. In case of rejection, the reasons are also indicated. If the application is accepted, then further information on the roll number, examination centre etc., are also displayed. A candidate can search the status of his application with reference to his date of birth, name, etc.
Hall tickets to all eligible candidates are dispatched at least four weeks in advance of the examination date through post offices under 'Certificate of Posting' to the address given in the application. If the candidate is not available at that address, he should make arrangements for collecting the hall ticket once the examination schedule is announced. In exceptional cases, if the candidate does not receive the hall ticket up to a week before the examination date, he should first check up his eligibility status on this website. If he is eligible he should note down his roll number and approach the office of the Railway Recruitment Board on any working day, three days prior to the examination date with a passport size photograph for obtaining a duplicate hall ticket. Issue of duplicate hall ticket is subject to satisfactory proof of candidate's identity, address etc.
Once an application is rejected, no further correspondence is entertained. In the employment notification calling for applications, detailed instructions are given for filling in the application and the areas in which the candidate his to take care so that his application is not rejected. If the candidate doesn’t fill in the application properly then it is rejected. RRB never gives further opportunity.
SSC/Matric certificate in proof of the candidate's date of birth, Provisional/Final degree, Diploma, ITI/Apprenticeship certificates, Certificates issued by Intermediate boards, state boards or CBSE. Community certificates in the format laid down in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC communities. Discharge certificate in case of ex-servicemen.
Not required. It is sufficient if the candidate produces the originals of the certificates, copies of which would have been enclosed with the application.
No. The Railway Recruitment Board retains only attested copies of the certificates. The candidates should never leave their original certificates (including community certificates) with the Railway Recruitment Board. In exceptional cases where malpractices or forgeries are suspected, the original certificates can be collected for verification purpose. In such cases, proper acknowledgements should be demanded and obtained.
The role of the Railway Recruitment Board is to select suitable candidates and recommend their names for appointment to the vacancies in Railways. Offer letter is only awarded after Railways after completing the formalities like verification of character, medical examination and availability of vacancies.
Railway Recruitment Boards have never prescribed any books or guides for the examinations being conducted. In the same way, no coaching institution is recognized for giving coaching to candidates. RRB always advises candidates not to be misled.
No application fee is charged in SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and Physically handicapped candidates. The fee is also exempt for Women, Economically Backward Classes and Minorities. For posts having below Grade Pay Rs.2800, Fee is Rs.40 and for the post having Grade Pay above Rs.2800, Fee is Rs.60.
The application fee can be submitted in the form of Indian Postal Order (IPO) or Demand Draft. The Indian Post Order (IPO) purchase date should not be prior to the date of notification. Cash/Money order or any other form of fee is not acceptable. The Demand Draft should be issued by any Nationalized Bank only.
