As far as the eligibility conditions of the candidates who intend to pursue Materials physics are concerned, they must basically have an undergraduate degree (with physics or chemistry). Materials physics can be studied in the higher educational degrees only. One can pursue MSc programme after an undergraduate degree in general physics, general chemistry,Life sciences or Physics honors from a recognized university.
At present, no reputed institute in India is offering courses in Nanotechnology at the graduation level. The candidates interested in pursuing higher studies in nano science and nanotechnology should hold B.Tech, B.Pharma or M.Sc degrees in biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical, electronics, electrical, computer or mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, material science or the life sciences. Admission to the 5 year integrated M.tech Course in Nanotechnology also offered by many Indian Universities.
Microtechnologies, Crystallography, Metallurgy, tribiology, Biomaterials, surface chemistry, ceramography were the sub fields involved in Materials Physics research aspects. There are lots of research fellowships / scholarships available for the deserving candidates in India and Abroad.
