Biophysics Eligibility

As far as the eligibility conditions of the candidates who intend to pursue Biophysics are concerned, they must basically have an undergraduate degree (with Physics, Biology and Chemistry).Some University offers Biophysics specifically.

It is not mandatory for a candidate to acquire proficiency in Biophysics at the graduate level and then go for Higher Studies in Biophysics. The Candidate may have BSc (Hons) in Human Biology, BSc (Life Sc)/BVSc/BSc (Hons) in respective field and also enter as a research scholar or a Fellow Research Assistant.

It is necessary for MD (Biophysics) with the completion of MBBS from recognized university.

  • There are lots of research fellowships / scholarships available for the deserving candidates in India and Abroad. Research scholars / Research Fellows in Biophysics are expected to have knowledge in Physical chemistry, Biophysical chemistry, Statistical mechanics, or Molecular biology. A good PhD programme takes minimum of four years to complete.
  • Only few universities offer Biophysics courses in undergraduate level in India. But, after the formal twelve year secondary school education, candidates can do graduation in Science stream and then at the Master's and PhD levels, there are several options available to study Biophysics. Any aspiring student can do as many courses as possible, in either of these subjects. Many universities offer a degree in Biophysics at Postgraduate level and some have a specialization in undergraduate level.
