Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India common engineering entrance examination conducted for admission to several engineering colleges and courses all over the country. This test includes two stages - JEE Main and the JEE Advanced. The examinations are of the objective pattern.

Paper - 1 and Paper - 2 will each have three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Both the papers will be objective types, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
Eligibility requirements for this examination and syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Aptitude Test will be available on the websites of all IITs and will also be given in the Information Brochure of JEE - 2017.
Candidates will have the option of submitting either on - line (through internet) or paper application form - offline.
General (GE) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) category candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1991. Those born earlier are not eligible to appear in IIT-JEE 2017.
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and those with Physical Disability (PD) must have been born on or after October 1, 1986.
The date of birth as recorded in the high school/first Board/Pre-University certificate will be accepted. If the certificate does not mention the date of birth, a candidate must submit along with the application, an authenticated document indicating the date of birth.
IIT JEE - 2017 is conducted as a common entrance examination for admission in the undergraduate Engineering Degree courses in all the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bhubaneswar, Bombay, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Mandi, Patna, Punjab, Rajasthan, Roorkee), IT-BHU Varanasi, ISM Dhanbad

A candidate must have passed the QE for the first time, after October 1, 2015 or in the year 2017 or will be appearing in 2017.
You can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years.
The qualifying examinations (QE) are listed below:
1. The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi; etc.
2. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
3. Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
4. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
5. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.
6. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in any foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system.
7. H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
8. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
9. 3 or 4-year Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.

Application procedure: A candidate can submit application either on-line through internet or off-line through prescribed (OMR) application form.
(A) Off-line : A candidate can buy an application form with information brochure from any one of the designated branches of banks by paying Rs 500/- for SC/ST/PD/Female candidates (light yellow envelope) or Rs 1000/- for all other candidates (white envelope). The information brochure contains details regarding application procedure, syllabus of JEE, examination cities, course available at various institutes, fee structure and additional information about JEE-2017.
(B) Online :For online submission of applications, visit any of the websites given below and carefully follow the instructions given therein. Candidates can pay the application fee through NEFT or through challan of selected banks. The application fee for online mode is Rs 450/- for SC/ST/PD/Female candidates and Rs 900/- for all other candidates.
Help-line (only in IIT Madras zone):Those who do not have access to computers and internet can also apply on-line with reduced examination fees by visiting any of the forty approved 'CMC help-line' centres distributed all over the IIT Madras zone. The demand draft of amount appropriate to category/gender must be drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of "Chairman, JEE" of the respective IIT payable at the corresponding city.
